I used this back in the day but it's time to move on From the website The UltraStat ClearView was a patented device for removing static electricity generated as a by product of Televisions that used CRT displays. This product is no longer available. If you still have one hold onto it! They are rare! Steve R Cooter built the first unit on his kitchen table in 1993. He and his brother Kevin patented the unit shortly thereafter. The units were very popular in the late 90's. The technology was expanded and issued further patents both in the U.S.A and Worldwide. The ClearView was featured in Popular Science, Popular Mechanics, Playboy and many other magazines. They were a big hit on QVC and sold by Walmart, JC Penny, Sears and many other large volume retailers and computer stores including Fry's. UltraStat Inc had a professional video (taped ;). The ClearView won 5 stars at CES (Consumer Electronics Show), accolades at Cebit in Germany and were packaged in 14 languages and sold world wide. Unfortunately consumers at the time just weren't believers in static control (and neither were many Companies). They found their place in a unique niche market - but never exploded like we at UltraStat had hoped at the time. They are somewhat valued in the engineering community of today as they visually show how easy it is to generate a static charge (the LCD fires at a mere 20 volts).
